My Health for Life: Health Check Week 2020

Have you got a habit you want to kick? This week is My Health for Life Week!

The My Health for Life program is a Queensland government-funded program that aims to address the increasing incidents of chronic disease in Queensland. Over one-third of all deaths in Queensland are lifestyle-related and prevention is key. My Health for Life aims to have 10,000 Queenslanders complete the program and undertake 200,000 risk assessments by 2020. The challenges for the population in Queensland at higher risk of developing chronic disease 

  • 79% feel that they know what a good diet looks like
  • 70% are overweight or obese
  • 57% feel they do not have good health to excellent health
  • 48% do not do enough exercise

The program achievements so far are that participant successes at session 6 have increased veggie consumption by 60%. 70% of participants reduce their waist circumference by session 6. 49% of participants met the physical activity guidelines by session 6 and 97% of participants retain their intention to change behaviours by session 6.
