Did you know that our Exercise Physiologists are accredited My Health for Life Facilitators? The My Health for Life Program is a 6 month program where you work with a health coach to achieve your health goals. It is a State government-funded initiative, delivered by an alliance of health organisations, and is designed to help Queenslanders stay well and decrease their risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
There are two different ways to participate in this program: small group sessions, or one-on-one phone coaching. Either way, you explore topics such as nutrition, physical activity, understanding your personal risk of developing health conditions and how to make healthier choices a part of everyday life.
With the support of your coach, you will also develop an action plan. Whether your goal is to get more active, eat better, stress less, or lose weight, the focus is on building a step-by-step plan to help you achieve your goals over time.
Telephone Health Coaching
Telephone coaching is a more flexible option, allowing you to participate in the program at a time and location that works for you. You will have up to six regular appointments with your health coach over a 3-4 month period. Appointments are generally held fortnightly, with a longer break between appointment sessions five and six.
Group programs are available across Queensland and are delivered by local health professionals in your community. They offer a positive and supportive environment to share and learn as a group, while working on your own personal health goals. You will have up to six regular appointments with your health coach over a 3-4 month period. These appointments are generally held weekly or fortnightly (depending), with a longer break between appointments fives and six.
The great thing about this program is that you can do it again! Sometimes we may not quite know what we want to get out of the program the first time round and that is okay, you can take the assessment again to see if you are still eligible and come back to smash it next time!
